Kayu Putih PPSU Produces Coffins to Help Overcome Covid-19

It has been done since July 3 and now we have produced seven coffins

The Kayu Putih Urban Village PPSU, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, took the initiative to produce coffins to help overcome Covid-19.

Kayu Putih Urban Village Head, Artika Ristiana expressed that the making of the coffin involved five personnel using five layers of thick plywood. This material is a donation from East Jakarta Basnas Bazis.

"It has been done since July 3 and now we have produced seven coffins," she stated, Tuesday (7/6).

She admitted it was not conducted every day but made as needed only.

Kayu Putih Urban Village Secretary, Parno added it was basically for the handling of bodies who died at home due to Covid-19.

"Residents whose families died report to the local RT/RW and forwarded to the urban village. We first check the completeness including the results of the swab and we report it to the puskesmas as the body relocation team. Afterwards, we'll send the coffin together with the puskesmas team," he explained.

Moreover, he empowered the skills and creativity of PPSU personnel in an effort to accelerate Covid handling services.

"From seven coffins, three have been distributed to people in need," he stated.
